The Longview Heights SDA Church Health Ministries Department is seeking men, women, boys and girls 18 years of age and older to participate in our Organic Garden Project. Become the expert on your chosen produce item. Each participant is asked to select one vegetable to plant and cultivate from organic seeds from beginning to harvest. Take a tour of the Seven Harvest gardens and learn the basics of organic gardening, worm casings, hoop houses and more from our own Dr. Barry Colley and Mrs. Diane Colley. Your organic produce will be featured in our upcoming Open Market for sale to members of our church and community, and during our 2012 Health Fair. Get involved. Promote good nutrition. Attain better health!
The Health Ministries Department is accepting donations of $5 per participant to help defray the cost of seeds and other planting supplies and materials. Thank you!
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Public School Systems have sponsored school gardens and offer much valuable information to their teachers, students and parents. Through some of these resources, we would like to offer information on Composting, Watering and Rain Barrels, and Planting Took Kits. For access to the full resource website, please click on the following link. Enjoy!
